Sainsbury's at Oldbury to introduce £70 parking fines after Sandwell Council approval
A supermarket is to enforce £70 parking fines with new cameras.
Sainsbury's proposal for the four ANPR cameras at its store in Freeth Street, Oldbury, has been approved by Sandwell Council.
The store had said it wanted to install the cameras because too many people were leaving their vehicles at its car park without entering the store.
Along with the four cameras, 18 new signs will go up around the car park to explain the three-hour time limit during store hours.
The cameras will be mounted on poles within the car park, along with message signs alerting the driver their registration has been taken and the time they entered.
The plan stirred up debate, with 70 per cent of almost 1,000 people who responded in an Express and Star poll saying it was a fair way to deal with the drivers.
