Jas Kaur from Oldbury has been living with Multiple sclerosis (MS) since 2010 and the 38-year-old has spoken of what the condition, which affects the brain and nerves, with symptoms including tiredness, vision problems and issues with walking and balance, has done to her.

She said: "MS has robbed many things in life from me and it has been devastating.

“The condition has affected me so badly as I spent three months in hospital in 2021 and I’m now re-learning to walk all over again, which is really affecting my life, with issues such as leaving the house."

Ms Kaur, who has worked as a reasonable adjustment lead for West Midlands Police, has been working to raise £43,000 for private stem cell treatment, which will prevent the condition from progressing any further, at the Clinica Ruiz in Mexico.

Stem cell transplantation is an intense chemotherapy treatment for MS, aiming to ‘reset’ the immune system, effectively wiping it out and then regrowing it, using the person’s stem cells.

She said that it was the only way to stop the condition from progressing, but found that paying for it was the only way she could get it.
