Professor Chinn visited the site of the pub's bulldozed remains in Himley over the weekend to support a campaign to rebuild the iconic wonky building.

The former Radio WM DJ and best-selling author told the Express & Star: "It was really upsetting to see the rubble at the end of the lane which used to have such a historic building.

"I was angry. The destruction of heritage is always upsetting but this is on a different level. The destruction of a vital living entity with no thought of the place this building has within our modern world is just awful.

"I am not one of those historians who want to preserve stuff for the sake of it, but The Crooked House really meant something to the people of the Black Country and beyond."
