A possible sculpture was among the items discussed at full council meeting this week.

Councillor Terry Wood, who represents Walmley and Minworth ward, said at the meeting: "I would like us to use Vesey Gardens as a centre piece for the celebrations.

"I would like to see some sort of sculpture or floral decoration that celebrates Her Majesty's 70 years on the throne.

"We could see trees planted along the avenue as it approaches Holy Trinity Church.

"At the top of the Vesey memorial, I'd like to see two metal benches, either side of the steps, with the Queen's crest on to properly celebrate her reign.

"I think it's important, as a Royal Town, we make it known that we fully support Her Majesty."

Councillor Keith Ward added: "The Queen visited Sutton Coldfield for the Scout Jamboree in Sutton Park.

"Could we perhaps talk to Birmingham City Council about the potential to plant a tree where the Jubilee stone is in the park, to commemorate it?"
