'Waste of time' as Ronan Kanda's murderers told they won't have sentences increased

Teenager Ronan Kanda's murderers will not have their sentences increased, a judge has said.

Prabjeet Veadhesa and Sukhman Shergill, both 17, appeared via video link from Wetherby Young Offender Institution at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday before Mr Justice Choudhury, the judge who sentenced them.

Earlier this month Veadhesa was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 18 years for murder and Shergill was given life with a minimum tariff of 16 years.

Both were also sentenced to eight months for possession of a bladed article, to run concurrently.

Veadhesa, of Cairn Drive, Bentley, in Walsall, who mistook Ronan for another youth, stabbed the 16-year-old in the heart just yards from his home, in Mount Road, Lanesfield, Wolverhampton, on June 29 last year.
