Roads in the Black Country where the most motorists have been caught speeding this year have been revealed

The locations, which were revealed following a freedom of information request to West Midlands Police, have identified some of the the worst locations in the region for motorists flouting the limit.

Thousands of drivers have been caught out in these areas in the first six months of 2023 by either average speed cameras or mobile camera vans.

In Dudley, mobile camera vans caught out the most motorists on the A461 Dudley Southern Bypass, towards Cinder Bank Island, where 221 drivers were caught speeding.

They caught out 103 speeders on the A4036 Thorns Road between Thornhill Road and Caledonia toward Lye, while the A449 Kidderminster Road between Foundry Road and B4178 Swindon Road, Wall Heath, was another hotspot catching out 90 speeding drivers.

While an average speed camera on the A4123, between Tipton Road and Burnt Tree Island, caught 363 drivers speeding – the most recorded in the same location anywhere in the borough.

In Sandwell, mobile camera vans caught the most speeding motorists on the A34 Birmingham Road, opposite Pages Lane towards Birmingham, with 377 offences recorded.

There were 190 speeders caught on the A41 Black Country New Road, at Swan Island, and 125 on the A41 Black Country New Road at George Henry Road, West Bromwich, where mobile cameras were deployed.
