Detectives arrested Shamraz Ali on Tuesday morning at his home and later that evening charged him with plotting to kill Mohammed Haroon Zeb.

Mr Zeb died after being shot in Queens Cross, Dudley, on January 31.

Ali, 19, of Tanfield Road, Dudley, was due at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.

He is the eighth person West Midlands Police officers have charged in connection with Mr Zeb's murder – after they charged three Dudley men with conspiracy to murder last week.

Umar Ali, 20, of Blowers Green Road; Mohammed Rafiq, 19, of Gammage Street; and Gurdeep Sandhu, 23, of Blowers Green Road; have all been remanded into prison ahead of their next court appearance.

Four others had already been charged and are also now in prison awaiting trial.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro from the Homicide Unit, said: “This is a complex investigation; we suspect a group of people played a part in Mr Zeb’s murder.

“Our investigations are progressing and will continue until I’m confident we have identified everyone we suspect was involved in the conspiracy.

“We are determined to get justice for Mr Zeb’s family.”

The investigation into Mr Zeb's murder is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting incident number 20DY/28354Z/21.
