£170,000 Wolverhampton cannabis factory raided by police

More than 170 cannabis plants were seized by police after raiding a residential property in Wolverhampton.

A 31-year-old man was also arrested after officers executed a drugs warrant at the address in Crawford Avenue.

Officers found a cannabis farm worth an estimated £170,000 at the property, in the Lanesfield area of the city, at around 2pm on Wednesday.

The man remained in custody for questioning yesterday, having been detained on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity.

Officers carried out the raid acting on information from the community.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Officers discovered just over 170 cannabis plants at an address in Crawford Avenue, Wolverhampton, after executing a warrant at around 2pm.

"A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity. He remains in custody for questioning."
