Man charged with manslaughter after prisoner dies at Brinsford

A man has been charged with manslaughter after a prisoner died at HMP Brinsford in South Staffordshire.

Abdi Rehman Esa, age 20, of HMPYOI Brinsford, has been charged with manslaughter following an assault at the prison in Featherstone on Saturday, December 5.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton and then to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with head injuries but died on Sunday, December 6.

Esa will appear before magistrates at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre this morning.
