Man charged with attacks on pensioners in Birmingham

A man has been charged in relation to attacks on pensioners in Birmingham.

A 78-year-old woman suffered a broken hip after it is alleged Thomas Cahill broke into her home and stole cash and bank cards.

And two days later, another 78-year-old woman suffered a broken hip after being dragged to the ground during a violent bag snatch in the street.

Cahill has been charged with two counts of robbery, one attempted burglary, burglary, three counts of theft from cars and three counts of theft.

The 41-year-old, of no fixed address, was due to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.
