Man taken to hospital after group with baseball bats and knives attack him in Netherton

A man has been taken to hospital after he was attacked by a group with baseball bats and knives in Netherton.

Emergency services were called to Saltwells Road just before 1pm today to reports of an assault.

The 31-year-old victim had to be taken to hospital after being assaulted by the group of men, who made off in a car.

Jordan Eggington, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 12.53pm to reports of an assault in Saltwells Road, Netherton. We sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the critical care car to the scene.

"We’ve treated one man, for injuries not believed to be life threatening and he’s been taken to hospital for further treatment.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’re investigating after a man was assaulted by a group of men on Saltwells Road, Netherton, just before 1pm this afternoon.

"The 31-year-old has been taken to hospital to be checked over, though his injuries are thankfully not believed to be serious. The offenders who were armed with baseball bats and knives, managed to make off in a car.
