West Midlands Police has seized a haul of weapons and drugs during an ongoing crackdown on gangs and serious crime across the city.

A series of operations were carried out over recent months to tackle illegal activity and target criminals.

This has helped lead to more than 30 arrests since November for offences ranging from suspicion of conspiracy to supply drugs, possession of an offensive weapon to wounding.

And Class A and B drugs worth an estimated £300,000 recovered in just three months.

There have also been 15 weapons – including a shotgun and machetes – which have been seized.

Inspector Stephanie Furber, from the gangs team, said: "We're are actively disrupting those we believe are connected to gangs and wider criminal activities.

"We’re taking potentially lethal weapons off the streets and stopping one of the biggest sources of income by targeting the drugs network.

"These operations are ongoing across the city and we continue to relentlessly pursue those involved in crime."
