Unemployed Adrian Paskin pleaded guilty to causing the death of Sarah Handley, from West Bromwich, by dangerous driving during a short hearing at Birmingham Crown Court.

The 28-year-old victim, who was a passenger in the Ford Fiesta which was driven by the defendant, suffered fatal injuries when the car collided with a Volkswagen Golf in Crocketts Road, Birmingham, on August 17.

The Fiesta, driven by Paskin without a licence or insurance, failed to stop for police a short time before it was found at 9.42pm.

Three people who were travelling in the Volkswagen suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Ms Handley, from West Bromwich, was taken to hospital after the crash where she later died.

Yesterday, 34-year-old Paskin pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

Prosecutor Michael Conry described the police chase element of the charges against the defendant as “disturbing” during brief submissions to Judge Melbourne Inman QC.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) were informed about the crash and sent investigators to the scene.

Paying tribute to Ms Handley after her death, her family said in a statement: “We are devastated to have lost Sarah who was a loved mother, daughter, sister and aunty.”

Paskin, of no fixed address, was remanded back into custody before his sentencing hearing on October 7.
