Staffordshire Police say the death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem will take place.

The address was cordoned off yesterday while forensic examinations were carried out.

The cordon was taken down this morning but police remained at the scene and were speaking with neighbours.

Reporter Liam Keen was at the scene this morning:

Neighbour Jennifer Smith, aged 74, said: “It’s so sad, they were only a young couple, you don’t expect this here, it’s a nice area.

“I don’t know them personally, only to say hello to, but they were nice.

“I saw the police cars and the forensics all in white but I really don’t know what happened.

"I suppose it is scary having this happen here, but the feeling is more of sadness that a woman has died."

Map of the area:

Local resident Keith Redman, aged 72, said: “I’m horrified. I’m not aware of this happening around here.

“It’s a quiet, ordinary area with friendly people.

"Everyday you'll see people walking past and saying hello, it's normal.

"I don't know anyone down that side of the street, only people closer to my home, but you don't want to see forensics nearby.

“I don’t know what happened, but it’s horrible to hear it.”

StreetView of Anglesy Street:

Neighbour Andy Chandler, aged 49, said: “It’s a shock.

“It’s so quiet around here, so that’s terrible.

"My son heard about it first after a friend messaged him, and I then saw all the pictures on the media, but I had no idea it was happening at the time.

“I hope it’s not malicious, you don’t want that on your doorstep.”
