Two more men have appeared in court in connection with an English Defence League protest that descended into violence in Walsall town centre.

Two men in court on Walsall EDL protest violence

Last September there were angry scenes in Leicester Street as the EDL protest was held.

Yesterday, Douglas Ralston, aged 52 of Alexandra Road, Tipton, and 32-year-old Alan Turnbull, of Rigby Drive, Chadsmore, Cannock, appeared before Walsall magistrates.

Both were charged with violent disorder on September 29 and each gave no indication of plea to the charge.

They will next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on July 19.

Both were given conditional bail and ordered not to participate in any EDL, English Volunteer Force (EVF) or Unite Against Fascism (UAF) protests in England and Wales.
