Funeral held for popular shopkeeper Raj Kumar
Crowds gathered to pay an emotional final farewell to a popular shopkeeper.
The funeral of Raj Kumar, who ran Ashmore Park Hardware for more than 30 years, was held at Bushbury Crematorium, Wolverhampton, yesterday.
Before the service the hearse stopped briefly at Ashmore Park shopping precinct where hundreds of his former customers had gathered.
As the hearse pulled away there was spontaneous applause.
Councillor Phil Bateman, who represents Wednesfield North, said: "Ashmore Park is a marvellous community, warm and welcoming in the main, again turning out in numbers to express their condolences to the family of Raj Kumar, the estate's favourite shopkeeper."
Mr Kumar, aged 52, died after collapsing in his shop on August 19.
