The size of the funding injection is not being revealed, but it will allow the owners of Atholl House, in Compton, to carry out extensive renovation work with a new extension to accomodate additional bedrooms, a new day room, a coffee shop and a rehabilitation room.

The existing Edwardian property, in Richmond Road, will get a new reception area and additional car parking space as part of the work, due to be completed early next year.

Atholl House director Saroj Jakhu said: "We are thrilled that we have secured funding for the extension work and that we can now press ahead with plans to improve and expand Atholl House. Demand for a space in the specialist home is increasing and so we hope that by increasing our provision we will be able to accommodate more local individuals in need of more complex care.

"The support we have received from RBS has been excellent and I am pleased that we made the decision to switch to the bank. In addition to the funding, the advice we have received from Darren Vander and his team has been excellent, they have shown real desire to get to know and understand my business and I am looking forward to continuing to work with them in the future."

Darren Vander, relationship director for healthcare at the Royal Bank of Scotland, said: "The works are set to transform the nursing home and improve the facilities on offer. I am looking forward to seeing the finished project and to continuing to develop a successful relationship with the business."
