Sax sensation Julian Smith will take to the Britain's Got Talent stage tonight in the hope of winning a place in the show's grand final.

Halesowen music teacher Julian, aged 40 , is the bookies' favourite to win the public vote and bag himself a place in the live final on Saturday.

The father-of-two, from Olliver Close, was this morning heading down to London to prepare for the live show.

During his first audition, Julian wowed the judges with his rendition of Somewhere from West Side Story, reducing judge Amanda Holden to tears.

And he is hoping for the same positive response today. He said: "I'm really looking forward to the show and am feeling quite good about it all.

"During the auditions, you just walk on and play without a proper sound check or anything but tonight I will have had time to rehearse.

"I am heading down to the studio this morning and I don't really know what the day holds, but it's all very exciting."

Julian will be up against acts including grandfather and granddaughter singing duo Two Grand aka John Neill and Sallie Lax, aged 76 and 12 respectively, from Doncaster and punk pop act Brit Chix from Boston, Lincolnshire.

Breakdancing pensioner Fred Bowers, dancing dog act Jackie Prescott and Tippy Toes, from Oxford, and dance troupe Sugarfree, from Essex, will also take part.

Singer Callum Francis, 12, from Hertfordshire, and burlesque act Fabia Cerra, 35, from Oxford, are also hoping to get to the final. William Hill have made Julian their 4/7 favourite to get the public's vote tonight.

Rupert Adams, spokesman for William Hill said: "If Julian chooses the right bit of music he will be a certainty to make the final."

Comedy dance act Stavros Flatley won Tuesday's public vote to secure a place in the final, with father-and-son performers Demetrios and Michalakis Demetriou, from north London, dancing to Zorba The Greek.

They will be joined by Lichfield singer Shaun Smith, Swansea singer Shaheen Jafargholi, aged 12, and dance troupes Flawless and Diversity.

The hopefuls will compete for a prize of £100,000 and a chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.

Julian said: "I wouldn't exactly say I'm confident but I feel OK.

"I'm just happy to be there and am keeping my fingers crossed."

Britain's Got Talent is on ITV1 at 8.30pm.
