Stand by your Nan is a show by comedian and spoken word artist Rachel Sambrooks, inspired by her own grandmother Eve.

Rachel will tell the stories of how Eve got a degree in her late 80s, dabbled in new age philosophy and enjoyed experimental cooking.

The show also invites members of the audience to share their own stories about the older women in their lives, which they can do by tweeting to @labellaraquella using the hashtag #standbyyournan.

Rachel has said she is really looking forward to hearing from more women “growing old disgracefully” in Wolverhampton.

She said: “My grandmother was an inspiration to me, so much so I’ve written a whole show about her.

“She lived each day as if it was a gift and in our youth obsessed world, maybe it’s time to stop seeing ageing as a curse.”

The show is on Sunday, October 27 and will be held at the Lych Gate Tavern, Queen Square, Wolverhampton.

It is part of the Funny Things Festival.
