Wayne Taylor, from Smethwick, showed his wicked side when he appeared as The Joker, from Batman, at a convention.

He was one of many people who turned up as the starts from cult comics, films and television shows at the T Zone convention at Telford International Centre.

And it featured actors Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, best known for roles in Prison Break and Legends of Tomorrow, David Harewood from Supergirl and Homeland and Brianna Hildebrand who appeared in recent box-office smash Deadpool.

Thousands of people attended the festival, which ran on Saturday and Sunday.

Huge queues had built up of fans wanting to meet some of the stars of their favourite shows.

Friends Colin John, 19, Linzi Griffiths, 24, and Stefanie Dicrouce, 32, who had travelled from Limerick in Ireland, were meeting for the first time in Telford.

They were dressed as Alexander Hamilton from the musical Hamilton, the X-Men's Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Mila from Once Upon a Time respectively.

They met on web blogging site Tumblr over their shared love of the series Once Upon a Time and had come together with other friends met online.

Linzi, from Selby, said: "Conventions are nice because you can come and meet other people from the same fandom.

"You probably only see these people two or three times a year but you talk to them all the time."

Colin, from Cardiff, added: "It is great to meet people face to face."

For Helen White, from Sendshill, the convention was only round the corner.

She had dressed as Steampunk Loki, a costume of her own creation based on the Avengers baddie and was joined by friend Thomas Jones from Holywell in North Wales, dressed as Thor.

He said: "We met at a Comic Con."

Helen added: "This is a good little convention, we were here for the MCM Midlands earlier this year."
