The Association of Leading Visitor Attractions ranked its members in order of total visitors during 2015. The top 10 were all in London, with the Library of Birmingham in 11th place.

Councillor Penny Holbrook, who is responsible for learning at Birmingham City Council, said: "As well as being a lending library, it is a tourist attraction with people coming from around the globe to see our Shakespeare collection, the beautiful terraces and city views."
