A cyclist, taking part in the event, died when he came off his bike on Coleshill Road in Atherstone, Warwickshire.

The man, in his 50s, had approached the 23-mile mark of the 100-mile race when he came off his bike on Sunday.

A Warwickshire and West Mercia Police spokesman said investigations are continuing into his death.

In a separate incident a 59-year-old man from Plymouth, who was working as a steward, suffered a suspected fractured hip in what is believed to have been a road rage attack.

A 72-year-old man from Northfield was arrested after the incident took place in New Inns Lane, Rubery.

The man has since been released by police and investigations are continuing into the incident.
