Man cut free after two-car crash in Lye

A man was cut free from his car after a two-car collision in the Black Country.

Emergency services were called to the scene after the two cars, including a BMW, were involved in the crash in High Street, Lye, this morning.

The crash took place near to the junction of Pedmore Road and Stourbridge Road, near to the William Hill betting shop, just after 4am.

Firefighters had to use Holmatro cutting equipment to remove one man from the car. He received precautionary checks from ambulance services, said West Midlands Fire Service.

He is understood to have been suffering from lower back pain.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service tweeted: "Considering the damage, could have been a lot worse. The driver of one car was assessed and treated at the scene by ambulance staff before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

"The other driver was discharged at the scene. An ambulance and a paramedic officer went to the scene."

West Midlands Police were also in attendance. Crews from Stourbridge and Brierley Hill fire station attended the scene.
