Wyer heads to the prestigious Waterloo Bowling Club in Blackpool to take part in the BCGBA Champion of Champions event.

Staffordshire merit winner Wyer, who faces BCGBA Junior Merit winner Matthew Worden in the first round, joins a field of 32 players from across the country, all of whom have won a qualifying competition of some form during 2018.

The competition features all of the games major A-list players including Shropshire’s Callum Wraight, Greg Smith, Graeme Wilson and Simon Coupe as well as the new Waterloo Autumn Handicap winner, Birmingham’s Jon Palmer.

Greg Smith is the pride of the Midlands after adding another trophy to his haul.

The George bowler clinched the Midland Masters title by beating Derbyshire’s Conor Chamberlain in the final at Stretton Bowling Club.

Chamberlain had beaten Chadsmoor’s Mick Ledwidge in the semi-final.

Codsall are celebrating after being crowned champions of the Wolverhampton Senior Citizens League.

They clinched the title by beating Amery 7-1 in their final outing – a result that saw them finish just three points ahead of second-placed Woodfield.

Roy Kendrick was Codsall’s star man on the night with a 21-5 success.

Clive Pittaway, Cliff Edwards, John Melia and Steve Potts were Codsall’s other winners.

And to complete an impressive double for the club, Pittaway claimed the top-flight averages prize.

Woodfield also rounded their season off with a 7-1 success – at home to ECC.
