Young footballers taste cup success

A host of young footballers tasted cup success in the latest round of Bilston Youth Football League finals.

An action packed day saw six pieces of silverware up for grabs at the home of Wolverhampton United on Prestwood Road.

There was a derby feel in the under-11s Charity Cup where a devastating display from Lane Head United saw them run out 5-0 winners over Lane Head Jaguars.

A hat-trick from Conor Dunne and double from Jude Malsbury saw United secure a convincing victory.

A brace from Charlie Rouse saw Coven United under-8s claim the Scott Lloyd Charity Cup with a 2-1 win over Penn Rovers. Randy Shargbeh netted Penn’s consolation.

The under-9s final saw Springvale Steelers go head-to-head with Pendeford United and run out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Tyrome Chamunorwa and Zion Robb.

Sunday also saw the under-16s Charity Cup finals take place.

In the First Division battle, Silverdale Strikers took on Ashmore Park Rangers with a hat-trick from Joe McCarthy and strikes from Jack Plant, Dylan Kingdom and Jake Powers ensuring a comfortable 6-0 win.

In the Second Division showdown, Springvale Steelers overcame Phoenix Warriors thanks to goals from Ryan Thomas and Cameron Pemberton.

In the sixth final, AFC Bilston and Gunners FC met to contest the under-17 Jackie Bolton Charity Cup.

A four-goal thriller saw AFC emerge victorious as strikes from Reece Ledwidge, Thomas Summers and Liam Davies secured a 3-1 win. Gunners’ Henry Jones found the net for his team.

Meanwhile, in the Colter Steels u19/u21 Super Cup it was semi-finals day. Trysull Tigers under-21s beat Coven United under-19s 3-0 thanks to a hat-trick by Dan Hickman.

It was the older age group that came out on top in the other semi too, as Penkridge FC trounced Bloxwich Rangers 12-2.

Leading the way was Jack Dixon who scored six, while Billy Sneddon and Scott Davidson grabbed two each. Tom Edge and Gregg Marshall rounded off the scoring.

Levi Abbotts and Reece Berry found the net for Bloxwich.

In the under-19s Charity Cup, an incredible hat-trick of hat-tricks from Callum Drewfield, Edward Pomroy and Dylan Hill saw Cheslyn Hay secure a 9-0 win over Penkridge FC.

The latest league action saw Nathan Griffiths bag a hat-trick as Old Hall Eagles beat Bloxwich Rangers 3-0 in the under-19 Division.

In the under-17 Spring League, there was a goal-fest at Wood Green Athletic as they drew 4-4 with Great Barr Harriers.

Silverdale Spartans under-16s and Bloxwich Rangers played out a 3-3 draw in Division One.

In the under13 Spring League, Willenhall beat Springvale Steelers Leopards 6-2 while Punjab United saw off All Star Wanderers 6-1.
