There’s definitely been ups and downs in Julen Lopetegui’s time as Wolves manager – but he has ultimately done a terrific job.

He’s led them to safety with relative ease. I know there were some nervy moments last month, but he’s done a superb job.

The recruitment in January was excellent and he’s given Wolves a lifeline to go into next season and try to build on it.

Look at the teams that have gone down, they are good teams with good players, and there was no reason if Wolves did not get the appointment right that they wouldn’t be in the bottom three.

There’s nothing glaringly obvious to say Wolves shouldn’t be there, especially when you look at Leicester’s squad.

Lopetegui has come in, completely changed the club’s momentum, and moving forward everyone needs clarity on the situation.

We know there’s Financial Fair Play issues to deal with, some players’ futures up in the air too – with the likes of Ruben Neves.
