After enduring a difficult first campaign in gold and black, the 24-year-old has turned plenty of heads over the past several months.

He has added end-product to his exceptional pace and power and, in turn, come out on top of a poll put out by BBC Sport as part of their ‘Premier League & WSL awards day special’.

Having scored four goals and come up with seven assists, speedster Traore earned 28 per cent of the vote – making him the clear winner for the ‘surprise package’ accolade.

Leicester centre-half Caglar Soyuncu came in second, with 12 per cent.

Then, in joint-third with 11 per cent were Norwich striker Teemu Pukki and Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram.

Traore’s season has been by far his best in the top-flight to date, having also played for Villa and Middlesbrough.

Eighty per cent of his overall Premier League goals have come this season, while 70 per cent of his overall assists have come during what has been a successful campaign for Wolves so far – sitting sixth with football currently suspended because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Wolves boss Nuno, meanwhile, came third in the ‘manager of the season’ vote, with seven per cent.

The Blades’ Chris Wilder was second with 25 per cent.

Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp was the clear winner with 55 per cent.
