Nuno urges Wolves to sharpen up in attack after Newcastle draw

Nuno Espirito Santo has called on Wolves to improve in the final third after they lacked inventiveness in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

Leander Dendoncker swiftly cancelled out Miguel Almiron's opener at Molineux, but Nuno's side were not at their sharpest in attack.

Raul Jimenez and Pedro Neto were denied by superb Martin Dubravka saves, while Matt Doherty had an effort cleared off the line in a frustrating afternoon for Wolves.

And Nuno said on the performance: "Not so good, not so good.

"Newcastle were well organised, but we didn't start the game well.

"We reacted to the goal and after that, I think we managed better.

"We created chances – but not the normal production that we have.

"Newcastle, like I say, were organised. It was difficult to find the lines and spaces.

"But we tried really hard until the end. The Newcastle goalkeeper made a couple of saves, and had a fantastic game that allowed them to stay in it.

"It was not the best one, but the character and will was there."

Wolves are still going strong in the Premier League table – sitting seventh – but they are now four without a win in all competitions.

"We produced good saves. But we should improve on the final touch," said Nuno.

"It was difficult as Newcastle did not want to go for the game. It was very tight, and we struggled there.

"But we created a couple of good chances, so we have to improve."

And he added: "It's obvious we must bring players."
