Matt Murray, Michael Oakes and Carl Ikeme, will take to the stage for ‘An Evening In Safe Hands’ at the The Cleveland Arms on Thursday, January, 16.

The shot-stoppers, who made over 500 Wolves appearances between the sticks spanning almost two Molineux decades, are set to reveal tales and anecdotes from their playing days.

An additional bonus for guests, will see Ikeme’s recently released autobiography entitled ‘Why Not Me’, which charts his football career alongside his recent battle with leukaemia, available at a discounted price on the night with the popular keeper on hand to sign copies.

“We enjoyed a fantastic year of sporting events at the Cleveland Arms in 2019, and this is a brilliant way to kick off 2020,” said event organiser Will Adamson. “They say that goalkeepers are crazy both in their personalities and the way they play the game, and this is going to be our chance to find out once and for all whether that saying is true!

“Wolves have been fortunate to have some fantastic keepers in recent years, and these three have to be right up there towards the top of the list.

“They were all together at Wolves at different stages of their careers, and will no doubt be able to share some previously unheard stories of the banter that exists in the goalkeepers’ union and some of the stories from their rollercoaster years at Molineux.

“It should be another great evening with three great guys and is one we are all really looking forward to.”

Oakes made 220 appearances for Wolves between 1999 and 2006, including the famous win over Manchester United during the Premier League campaign of 2003/04.

Murray was regularly battling with Oakes for the goalkeeping jersey as he broke through at Molineux, becoming the play-off hero of 2003 by saving a penalty in the final victory against Sheffield United, one of a century of appearances he made for Wolves.

Both Oakes and Murray represented England at Under-21 level.

Ikeme came through the Academy ranks at Molineux not long after Murray, eventually going on to impose himself as number one of both club and country, securing 10 senior caps for Nigeria towards the end of his career alongside his 207 outings for Wolves.

VIP tickets have already sold out for the event, but standard tickets, priced at just £5, are still available and can be purchased directly from the pub on Stow Heath Lane, online at clevelandarms.com or by calling (01902) 451021. Doors open for VIP’S at 6.30pm with the show starting at 8pm.
