The Spaniard – who came up with stunning strikes against both Tottenham and Manchester City – is one of eight up for the award.

He is up against Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, Norwich's Emi Buendia, Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne, Watford's Ben Foster, Southampton's Danny Ings and Leicester's Jamie Vardy.

On Traore, who has also been nominated for the December PFA player of the month award, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: "He's been working hard, not only this season but since he arrived.

"He's doing well. I'm delighted that he's in contention for this award because he deserves it.

"He's a fantastic player and a hard-working boy."

Nuno was also asked if there was any chance Traore could leave this month, and he said: "No."
