Diogo Jota insists Wolves are feeling confident ahead of a busy festive schedule despite seeing their unbeaten run come to an end.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side almost made it 12 without defeat last weekend, but they conceded in stoppage-time to lose 2-1 to Tottenham at Molineux.

The nature of the loss – allowing Jan Vertonghen to head home – was disappointing, but forward Jota says Wolves remain in high spirits as they look to get back to winning ways at Norwich on Saturday, before facing Manchester City a week on Friday and then heading to Liverpool a week on Sunday.

"Being so long without losing gave us a lot of confidence, we trust each other. I think we did a very good game, one of the best, and we didn’t get the result," said Jota.

"It’s always hard when you lose, but I think there is a lot of positive things to take from this game.

"We can’t concede that goal, the corner in the final minute, but we will improve on that and the next game is to win.

"We saw the way they celebrated the win after the final whistle. I think it meant a lot for the team to come here and win. In the end, that shows that beating us is not an easy thing.

"The other teams, when they are able to do it, they are very pleased. It’s not easy because we lose, but we are confident to go to the next one to win."

Wolves dominated large spells of the game against Jose Mourinho's Spurs, with Adama Traore scoring a screamer from outside the box.

Ultimately, it was not to be – but Jota is taking the positives from it.

"I think we probably did one of the best games this season. I think we pressed quite well, we played quite good, but in the final third, the last moment, the last pass, the shot, it wasn’t our best," he said.

“I think we created a lot of chances, not clear chances, but balls in the box, but we couldn’t reach the goal. I think this result is not fair, but this is football."

Jota was unable to continue his hot streak against Tottenham. He is feeling good, though, after a hat-trick against Besiktas and a brace at Brighton.

“The last two games were very important to me," added Jota.

"Unfortunately, on Sunday, I couldn’t help the team scoring, but I was there doing my moves. Now, we are resting to face the next game.”
