Reaction to the Result

Complete sickener, that. A dominant performance and we’ve come away with nothing.

Spurs mastered the dark arts well which is something we can be naive to. Plenty of positives to take away from that and on another day we win it.

You could argue Spurs should have been reduced to ten, even nine men but the referee opted against protected the players. It shows how far we’ve come that the Champions League finalists had to come to Molineux and play that way for the points.

Man of the Match

There is just no stopping Traore. If you get close to him he’ll go past you. If he goes past you it’s either a booking or curtains. Spurs just didn’t know how to contain him and he took his goal with aplomb. Arguably Wolves’ player of the season.

Something to Improve

We have to manage games better towards the latter stages and that includes Nuno. It was crying out for change towards the end but Nuno again showed a lack of faith towards his bench.

Reaction to the Result

It took less than ten minutes to realise we were up against a top six side.

Pace, muscle and movement were all in evidence and we were soon trailing. Yet, way before the end of the game, our performance showed that we also looked a top-six side.

We matched Spurs all over the pitch and we were a joy to watch. Neat passing, long and short, great link ups down both flanks with Traore and Jota playing superbly.

After turning a blind eye in the first half, the ref made the game all about him with eight yellow cards and plenty of strange decisions. A deserved equaliser could and should have led to a winner, but a cruel end left us as miserable as the weather.

Man of the Match

No-one was below par. We defended well, midfield was excellent and the front three ran and ran and ran.

Coady's passing was outstanding, Moutinho was brilliant and Traore deserved to be on the winning side. Each of those three could be MOTM.

Something to Improve

Patricio's kicking nearly always resulted in a loss of possession. It would also be good to see someone attack the near post on crosses.

Reaction to the Result

The performance was absolutely brilliant, couldn’t really ask for much more, we played Spurs off the park for the majority, Moutinho controlled the game, Traore was fantastic but we’ve somehow lost the game.

Sickening to lose with how well we played but hopefully the players keep their heads up and get themselves ready for next week.

If we play like we did consistently, we will get top seven and we have a shot at going very far in the Europa League.

Man of the Match

Moutinho and Traore were our best two players by far. The Portuguese maestro controlled the game, on the ball as well as off it he was superb all afternoon.

Adama’s goal was a quality finish but his general play was so enjoyable to watch, the Spurs players were treating him at times with how you’d expect them to treat someone like Messi.

I’d go as far as saying Traore is the best dribbler of the ball in the Premier League because at times 3-4 Spurs players were trying to stop him.

Something to Improve

Performance wise I can’t ask for much more, everyone tried and some of the football we played at times was ridiculously good.

We had some really good chances we could have done better with but on another day we win that game. Onto Norwich.

Reaction to the Result

A cruel, cruel blow right at the end of a fantastically entertaining game.

Wolves were so on top for the majority of the game, that it was always a possibility that we would concede a late goal. Football is just like that!

Don’t let this detract from the fact that this was Wolves at their best. Probably our best performance of the season, but for a couple of defensive mishaps we would surely have won the game.

Mourinho was extremely complimentary, probably realising that his team had got away with one, with a little help from the referee.

Stuart Attwell was the worst referee we have seen at Molineux, since Stuart Attwell!

Man of the Match

So many stand out performances, you could make a case for any one of them to be Man of the Match. A few unsung heroes had fine performances such as Jonny, Saiss and Dendoncker.

Traore was excellent again. He was continually fouled by Spurs but Attwell allowed them to get away without any red cards. Jota and Neves were both very good.

The absolute maestro was Moutinho. He was absolute class and by far the best player on the pitch for either team.

Hang your head in shame Harry Kane. For the second season he dived against us, not once, not twice but three times. The nation can be proud of you!

Something to Improve

This was a great team performance. Every player stepped up and played well.

The margins are so fine in a Premier League. Only two defensive lapses and both punished with goals. Firstly, Jota got wrong side of Moura as he entered the box out wide. This enabled him to get the shot in to beat Patricio.

Then, as we entered added time Vertonghen came forward for the free header, with no Wolves player anywhere near him. Possibly Traore’s man, but he was occupied with what looked like a dislocated shoulder at the time.

Russ Evers (Hatherton Wolves)

Reaction to the Result

As a young child, Tottenham became my team to hate. They beat us 3-0 in my first-ever game and then booker our hearts in the League Cup semi final, the FA Cup semi final and the UEFA Cup final. Forward fast (far too fast) nearly half a century and they are still at it. 58% possession, 11 corners to their 2 and 16 shots to 9. The only sats Tottenham beat us on were the important one-the score-and the number of yellow cards dished out for fouls on one player.

Man of the Match

Nearly everyone again, with Moutinho and Traore outstanding.

Something to Improve

As ever, score more from the chances we create but to leave the ground and hear a Spurs fan waxing lyrical about how good we were bodes well for the rest of the season.
