Wolves striker Raul Jimenez relishing partnership with Diogo Jota

Wolves top scorer Raul Jimenez is eager to continue the magic between him and strike partner Diogo Jota heading into two massive games.

The duo combined to perfection as they each scored in Saturday's win against Cardiff.

For the first, Jimenez set up Jota, who then returned the favour for the second a couple of minutes later.

Jimenez and Jota are now on 17 Premier League goals between them – Jimenez 11, Jota six – and the Mexican is out to get more goals at Chelsea on Sunday, and then in the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United a week on Saturday.

"The first one was amazing, when we are on the pitch doing passes, we know where the other player is," said Jimenez.

"We enjoy playing football and we have to keep doing it all match. They were very good goals.

"We enjoyed the first goal very much. It was pass move, pass move, so it was amazing. We can do this type of goals in more games.

"Me and Diogo have training sessions and play on the pitch together, him and me are having a good relationship.

"I assist him and he assists me in so many games, it’s a good part of the team.”

Getting back to winning ways against the Bluebirds was of great importance after losing to rock-bottom Huddersfield, and ahead of the games against Chelsea and United.

And Jimenez felt the victory was thoroughly deserved.

“We knew that it was going to be a very tough match, but we achieved what we want, two important goals," he said.

"We managed the game, we knew all game it would be throw ins and long balls, and I think our defence was very good.

"We lost at their home (in November) and knew they throw many long balls, but the two goals in the first half gave us an ability to manage the game in the second part, so we are very happy.”

Jimenez's displays in old gold have prompted the vast majority of supporters to call for him to be snapped up permanently this summer.

The 27-year-old is currently on loan from Portuguese club Benfica and is vastly enjoying life in Wolverhampton.

Wolves would have to pay around £30million to get him in on a permanent basis.

"I’m enjoying it. I love being here, we are making very good things," added Jimenez.

"Quarter-finals of the FA Cup and in seventh position, it’s very good for us.

"We know we can do more, but we go game by game, looking forward.

“I expect to score more goals but we have to go game by game, going with a good intensity.

"We need to help the team get wins, which is the most important thing.”

If a permanent deal does happen, Jimenez will be backed to become Wolves' record scorer in the Premier League.

Steven Fletcher currently has that distinction, with 22 goals.
