New signing Leander Dendoncker lured by Wolves' ambition

The 23-year-old midfielder/defender has joined from Anderlecht on a season-long loan, which will be made permanent for £12million next summer.

He comes with a big reputation having played more than 170 times for Anderlecht and earned six caps for Belgium.

Dendoncker said today: "I'm very happy to be here and I hope I can help the team as fast as possible.

"I'm very excited to start. I followed Wolves a little bit last year and saw they did really good, they took 99 points and won a lot of games with attractive football.

"I think it's an ambitious club and that's what attracts me the most. I'm ready to give everything.

"I'll do everything to adapt as fast as possible and help the team in every possible way.

"I'm a midfielder but I can also play as a defender so I'll play wherever the coach needs me. I will try to help the team in every possible way.

"I'm excited by the challenge. They say the Premier League is like playing in the Champions League every week and I don't think that's a lie, I think the best players are in the Premier League.

"I'm very excited and I can't wait to begin.

"I'd like to tell the fans to support the team and I can assure them I'll do everything to convince them to come and watch the games, not only for me but for the team.

"I'll do everything to give my best."

Dendoncker played once in the World Cup this summer, featuring at centre half as Belgium beat England 1-0 in their group stage clash.

Many of his Belgium team mates already play in the Premier League, such as Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard.

Dendoncker said they told him a move to English football would be good for his career.

"They say it's the biggest league in the world, that it's really nice to play every week in the Premier League," he added.

"They told me to come here, that I would become a better play. We will see.

"It was a really nice experience (in Russia), every young football player dreams of playing in a World Cup. I was a part of it and we went really far, for a small country as Belgium. I was really proud of the country and our team.

"I was the only player from the Belgium league who was in the squad. Now a move to the Premier League is also a dream for every young player.

"It was not really a big deal (to beat England) because I didn't have a relationship with the players from the England team, but a lot in our team really wanted to win, it was the game of the year to beat England and we did it twice."
