The Cottagers are the latest club to join the chase for the 24-year-old after Huddersfield Town were linked with a similar bid for the Portuguese star last week.

Cavaleiro appeared to distance himself from a move away from Molineux last week when he posted a pictured of himself in action for Wolves on social media with the message: “Looking forward to start the season with my club #wolvesaywe.”

He was a record signing for Wolves when joined from Monaco in 2016 for £7m.

Last season he helped Wolves on their road to winning the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.

Cavaleiro was one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s key players scoring nine goals and laying on 12 assists.

He was voted the Championship Player of the Month in November by the Professional Footballers’ Association and he was a runner-up in February. He was among the Wolves players who returned back to training yesterday.

Wolves have also been linked with a move for Egyptian defender Ahmed Hegazi – who has a £10m release clause – from rivals Albion but the Express & Star understands this has no substance.

And Joao Cancelo, who was also reported as a Wolves target elswhere, travelled to Juventus yesterday for a medical ahead of a move to the Italian giants.

Wolves have signed goalkeeper Rui Patricio and striker Raul Jimenez this summer, as well as tying down Willy Boly and Diogo Jota on permanent contracts.

With Jimenez and Patricio playing for their respective countries Mexico and Portugal at the World Cup, they will likely be given a couple of weeks off for rest after their international campaigns end.

And it is doubtful they will take part in Wolves’s pre-season tournaments in Switzerland and Germany next month, alongside Romain Saiss who has been playing for Morocco.

Elsewhere, Wolves have announced a new loyalty scheme for travelling supporters following the sell-out of away season tickets.

Some 99 per cent of holders renewed their 2017/18 away tickets with supporters who collected 1,270 loyalty points making up the remainder of the 1,100 cap.

With increased ticket demand, Wolves have renamed their existing scheme offering exclusive priority as Gold Away Season Tickets.

There will also be a Silver Away Season Ticket available, offering priority over general sale, with the exception of Bournemouth. Another 500 supporters will be allowed to join the silver scheme at a cost of £70. Fans will receive sales priority after the Gold Ticket holders for 18 games.

Loyalty points will be used to determine priority with fans holding 1,170 loyalty points getting first opportunity today.
