Chris Eno had been battling the illness for a number of years – before being told in May last year that the cancer had reached stage 4.

He lived with wife Gemma and son Harrison – and the family has focused their last year on creating unforgettable memories together.

His wife Gemma has kept a Twitter blog of their journey – and said Chris "filled our lives with joy".

The Albion fan had left his wife and son an advent calendar with a series of uplifting messages and fun challenges to keep them going as they dealt with his loss.

His funeral was held on Friday last week.

Gemma said, on the day of the funeral: "We say goodbye to an incredible man. He made the most of every moment and filled our lives with joy.

"He protected his family from his illness and faced it with such positivity. He was truly remarkable. We love you, Chris. You will live on in our beautiful memories."

A devoted West Bromwich Albion fan, a minute's applause was given to Chris during the 36th minute at Albion's game against Brentford on Saturday.

His son has also received support from the club, meeting players at Acorn's Hospice and was previously a guest of Chris Brunt at West Bromwich Albion earlier this year.
