Transport chiefs have chosen to pay tribute to Cyrille, who died earlier this year, by having his name adorn one of the fleet.

Members of the Regis family and West Midlands dignitaries will attend the naming event on January 18 and ride the newly-named tram to Albion's Hawthorns ground.

Regis spent seven years at the Baggies and was part of the iconic Three Degrees along with Laurie Cunningham and Brendan Batson.

He also played for Wolves and played a key role in helping to break down barriers for black footballers.

Thousands turned out for his funeral in January.
