The result kept Harriers in fourth spot as second-half goals from Joe Ironside and Dan Bradley saw off a spirited showing from the home side.

Without the guidance of John Eustace, serving the second of a three-match stadium ban, Matt Gardiner stepped up to lead from the touchline, overseeing another strong performance from a team who have earned rave reviews during the campaign.

Harriers deserved the victory, playing a flowing brand of football, as Alfreton worked hard off the ball to keep them at bay.

Fraser Horsfall led the way with an early effort that flew narrowly wide before Declan Weeks’ cross shot caused problems for home keeper Viktor Johansson.

Ryan Jennings posed problems for the visitors but fired wide when well placed.

Harriers kept a strong pace at the start of the second half and went ahead on 55 minutes as Mani Sonupe squared from the right for Joe Ironside to convert for his 20th goal of the campaign.

Ironside had a chance to net a second only for Johansson to make a block, but the second goal would not be long in coming.

Harriers again were effective in possession, Ryan Croasdale released Dan Bradley and his angled drive beyond Johansson nestled in the bottom left hand corner of the goal.

Sonupe and James McQuilkin had opportunities to add to the scoreline but both efforts sailed over the bar as Harriers produced a professional performance to see out the game and claim maximum points and maintain their fourth place position.
