Hackett targets league triumph

Boss Gary Hackett has challenged his players to return to winning ways in Southern Central following their impressive FA Cup win over Leamington.

A late Kaiman Anderson goal saw the Glassboys triumph over the National League North outfit last weekend to set up a clash with rivals Kidderminster Harriers.

Alongside their Cup success, the Glassboys are also performing well in the league with back-to-back draws at St Ives Town and Alvechurch seeing them rise up to fifth in the table.

But with his team back at Amblecote tomorrow, Hackett wants to see his side return to winning ways to ensure they maintain their push for promotion.

“It’s been two goalless draws away from home in the league,” he said.

“They are good results but they could have been better because we created a lot of chances.

“We showed we have that cutting edge against a good Leamington side.

“But now we’re at home, we want to get back to winning in the league. There is a bit of added pressure because of those draws.

“But we’ve had a good start. And if we play anything like we did last weekend we will score goals.”

In National League North, Kidderminster Harriers will warm up for the third qualifying round tie at local rivals Stourbridge next week with a home game tomorrow.

Second-placed Harriers – who thrashed lower-league Atherstone Town 5-0 in the Cup last time out – will be looking to close the nine-point deficit to leaders Chorley when they take on mid-table Altrincham at Aggborough.
