Dion Dublin: Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce will get things right at Wembley

Former Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin is expecting Steve Bruce to get his tactics right as Aston Villa take on Fulham in the Championship play-off final.

Bruce guided the Villans to a 1-0 aggregate win over Middlesbrough in the semi-finals, holding Boro to just two shots on goal in 180 minutes - both of those in the first leg.

Now the former striker is expecting the boss to get his strategy right once again as Villa aim to seal promotion in the 'richest game in football'.

"If he [Steve Bruce] sets them up right, you know you set traps and it could work if they all do it together. I just think Bruce will get it right." he said, speaking on TalkSPORT earlier this week.

"Everybody fancies Fulham because the way they play the game, they do it in the right way and always try and play from the back and play through the thirds of the pitch.

"But this is Aston Villa. They're a big club, [and have a] massive following. Should I say the stature of the club deserves to be in the Premier League."

Villa have a number of experienced players at their disposal, with the likes of John Terry, Robert Snodgrass, Ahmed Elmohamady, Lewis Grabban and others, and the 49-year-old believes they all contribute to a well balanced side.

"I think he's got a few captains on the pitch, he's got a great balance of seniors and kids and legs and goals.

"If there was a point where Villa were going to make it back to the top of the tree, this is it."
