Edinburgh-based Austin, 31, was set to compete at the 100kg weight, as the sport returning to the Games for the first time since 2002.

However, he broke the news of his withdrawal on Twitter, saying he was "absolutely gutted".

In 2013 he won the World Cup in Minsk, the European Cup in Bratislava and came second in the British Championships. This year he took bronze in the Pan American Open in Uruguay.
