Kinhult birdied the final two holes to finish a shot ahead of defending champion Eddie Pepperell, Matt Wallace and Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre.

Staffordshire’s Robert Rock also enjoyed a payday after closing with a final round of 67 yesterday.

Following two rounds of 69 and an out-of-sorts 76 on Saturday, Rock – from Armitage, near Rugeley – went round the course in five under par to lift him to seven-under overall and in a tie for 25th place with four others.

That meant he took home a prize of just over £29,000.
