Michael Mancienne today completed his latest move to Wolves and declared "I have come home" after snubbing rival Premier League offers.

The 22-year-old utility man sealed his season-long loan from Chelsea, as Wolves saw off late competition from West Ham and reported interest from Saturday's opponents Newcastle as well as clubs in Spain.

Mancienne snubbed a chance to stay in the capital to join Wolves for a third time out of loyalty to boss Mick McCarthy, the club's hierarchy, players are fans, having settled well in the area in his two previous loan spells.

He said: "Wolves have been very good to me in the past and I'm delighted to be back.

"In a way it feels like I'm coming back home and I'm really looking forward to the season.

"There were other alternatives, but the gaffer here has been really good to me and had faith in me and helped me improve my game.

"That played a big part in my decision."

Having seen him play all across the back four in the last two years, Wolves now see Mancienne primarily as a holding midfelder, where he excelled during the second-half of last season.

He said: "I've played in both midfield and defence here but I'm happy to play wherever I'm put."

A loan move was the only way Mancienne was going to secure regular first-team football, with Chelsea insisting on clubs meeting their £5million valuation and Wolves refusing to budge beyond a £3million bid.

Chief executive Jez Moxey said: "We did speak to Chelsea about a permanent deal but it was decided the best course of action was another season long loan.

"Michael was happy to do that, and although he had other alternatives, decided to come back to Wolves.

"He's got a very good relationship here with everyone, and we're delighted to see him back."

Mancienne added: "It didn't look like anything was going to happen with Chelsea and I want to play.

"I think the squad is already looking stronger with the new signings and they've made a great start as well.

"Hopefully we can do well again."

McCarthy said: "We know his quality and it's great to have him back.

"He's very versatile and can operate in different positions."
