Carlos proving a point
Walsall new-boy Carlos Fangueiro on Monday revealed how he rejected the chance to move home to his family - because he has unfinished business in England.
The Portuguese winger, who was Saddlers' stoppage time hero in the last-gasp 2-2 draw at Lincoln on Saturday, had several offers to return to his homeland to play in the top flight.
But Fangueiro, whose wife and three-year-old quadruplets are back in Portugal, opted to stay alone in England in order to prove he can cut it abroad.
"I had a lot of clubs in Portugal trying to sign me, but last season I only played a little bit for Millwall and I want to prove to myself that I can score goals and play well in England. It was a great start for me. I was very happy to score and very happy that Walsall got a point."
Fangueiro moved to England last summer to sign for former Saddlers boss Colin Lee at Millwall after spending seven years with various top-flight Portuguese clubs.
But he was unable to secure a regular first team place at The Den, and he was released in the summer before signing for Walsall on Friday following a Bescot trial.
His family remain at home because his initial contract with Walsall runs out at the end of January, but he has hinted they could be reunited in England if he does enough to earn an extended deal from Saddlers boss Richard Money.
