Crash closes lane on M6 near Stafford

A lane on the M6 in Staffordshire had to be closed after a car crashed into a barrier.

The vehicle collided into the nearside barrier on the M6 Southbound between Junction 15 for Stoke and Junction 14 for Stafford North.

The crash happened at at around 7.15am this morning, with traffic officers having to repair the barrier before it reopened at 11am today.

It comes as torrential weather swept across the West Midlands, causing low-lying water to cover main roads.

It comes after lanes on the M42 Southbound at Junction 6 for Birmingham had to be shut following a crash.

Traffic officers were sent to the scene, with the lanes re-opened an hour later at 8am.
