Blockbuster in Church Street closed in March 2013. The building was bought by developers Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

The shop will become a Compton Hospice branch and is expected to be open by the end of the month.

Paul Carter, general manager of Compton Hospice Trading Company, said: "We are really excited to be opening our first Compton Hospice shop in Cannock.

"The store will stock a range of items including men's, women's and children's clothing, accessories, homeware, bric-a-brac, furniture and giftware items."

Compton Hospice provides free care to terminally ill patients at the end of life and needs to raise more than £6 million a year to keep its services running.

Mr Carter added: "The Cannock store will become part of a large network of Compton Hospice charity shops located across the Black Country.

"We are excited to be opening the store in Cannock and ask that anyone who is interested in volunteering to help run the store."
