Six of Worcestershire's libraries are currently due to reopen on Saturday, July 4, pending confirmation from Government.

The reopening of the libraries will be carefully phased, managed and monitored – and only limited services will be available until social distancing restrictions are relaxed or removed.

As well as Kidderminster, libraries will reopen in Worcester, Redditch, Malvern, Bromsgrove and Evesham. They will be open between 10am and 5pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday.

A date for the reopening of Bewdley and Stourport libraries have not yet been announced.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for communities, said: “I am really glad we are in a position where we can begin to reopen the county’s libraries but there are lots of changes we have had to make in order to meet the restrictions of the testing times we are in.

"We really are a county of library users and I’d encourage our customers to take advantage of the online services we have created, to allow them to access the best of what our libraries have to offer as these changes continue.”

"Although some library doors will be opening, libraries will be unable to provide space for reading, studying, relaxing or meeting with friends and several changes will be in place to ensure the safety of library customers and staff."
