Specialists say historic Bilston pub hit by suspected arson attack can be saved

Experts paid a visit to the site on Thursday

The Greyhound and Punchbowl on High Street, Bilston, was badly damaged in the fire which tore through the Grade II listed building at around 3.40am on Saturday.

Council officials and specialists from Historic England paid a visit to the site on Thursday to assess if the pub was structurally sound.

Following the visit, experts concluded that the building could be saved, despite damage sustained in the fire.

Officials from Wolverhampton Council and Historic England visited the site on Thursday

A spokesman for Historic England, said: "Our specialist staff were able to visit the Grade II listed Greyhound and Punchbowl yesterday to help assess the impact of the fire.
