About 150 cannabis plants were found in the house after the fire broke out, which was caused by faulty electrics, the fire service said.

The fire is believed to have started in the loft space of the house on Lea Road at about 4.23pm on Saturday.

The house was empty when firefighters arrived, doused the flames and isolated the gas and electric supply.

Six fire crews were sent to the scene and alerted West Midlands Police who have launched an investigation. Nobody has been arrested.
