Members of Walsall Society of Artists have not met since March 2020 due to the pandemic.

Thanks to social media the group has been able to keep in touch and up to date with the work members produce.

Pam Renhard, member of the society, said: "Walsall Society of Artists is delighted to have the first exhibition, where visitors are welcome, at The Granary Art Gallery, Weston Park, since the coronavirus made itself known and lockdown began.

"‘A New Beginning’ is a very apt title for both the society and the gallery, as they have experienced the very negative effects of Covid, the gallery through closure and the society members from lack of interaction with like-minded friends."

A daily picture gallery on their Facebook page and a monthly Isolation Gallery on their website, have generated new members and many friends for the society.

Pam added: "This is proof of how art and creativity have helped so many through this trying time.

"It is from this virtual gallery that many of the works for this exhibition have been chosen."

Following a successful exhibition at the Granary Art Gallery in 2018 the society said they feel fortunate to be allowed back to exhibit for a second time at such a prestigious venue.

The showing will comprise of an eclectic mix of work, in a range of media, from a diverse selection of members.

A celebratory reunion is planned for members and new friends, with a painting day, and possibly a bring-your-own picnic, held within the grounds of Weston Park, on Sunday June 27.

The Granary Art Gallery is open daily, 11am to 4pm and admission is free.
